Question

Rendering options and jaggies when preview size is small

I frequently display a smaller sized preview when checking the balance of the overall image.
I think the algorithm for this display has changed since bridge ver. 2023.

The attached image is an enlarged screenshot of the preview panel with the smaller size.

In ver.2022 and before, when "use software rendering" was checked, the preview was smooth.

However, ver.2023 and 2024 have jaggies and are difficult to see.

This is especially true for thin objects and objects with high border contrast, such as beards and wires.

The problem is that the accuracy is changing between the reduced output and the preview of the same size in bridge.
(That's why I used to use this option, but it no longer works and I can't update recent version)

I would like a fix.

I have the same issue. I have two displays - a high DPI laptop display connected to a normal DPI Eizo for color accurate work. They look okay on the high DPI display but jagged on the Eizo. My feeling is it's generating a preview for the higher resolution laptop display and then downsizing it for the normal DPI - but not going a very good job with the downsizing.

I've tried every option and adjustment I can find and none seem to help.

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback.

Could you let us know about the OS details so we can better understand this issue?

Also, if possible could you please share sample files with us at sharewithbr@adobe.com?

Regards,
Bridge Team

For a sample, try a google search for "utility pole wikipedia" and use the image.
The same symptoms can be seen in the image of an electric wire.
I think it will be quicker.

Environment is here.
windows11 x64 pro (22H2, build 22621.2283)
I have triple monitors, two wqhd monitors and one 4k.

Slightly different from what TheCraigist81 is saying, the jaggies are still there on the 4k side with "use softwere rendering".
