Question

Saving a sort between users?

Here is the situation. I am setting up Bridge as an office Digital Asset Manager of images stored on a server. Several people in my office need to access and my boss likes it organized in such a way that if she explains something on how to find an image to one it will be the same to find it that way for all. I know you can drag and drop files in a custom sort but i am wondering is there a way to save that custom sort so it is shared across several users? I hope this question makes sense. Thanks

No. I don't think its going to work the way your boss thinks it should. Its more likely that you will have conflicts between different users. Have you done any testing? Bridge is a free install.

If you want multi-user functionality, you may need to buy a DAM server that is designed for this.

Bridge saves a hidden file with the sort order. Note that if multiple people access the server, changes made by any will affect everyone. You also want to NOT export cache to folders as you'll have problems with multiple people accessing the same folder.

You do know that Bridge has search features, right? Regardless of sort order, you can search for a file.

So if i found this hidden file i could create copies of it and by placing it on the individual machines it would sort their view of the images in the same way?
