Saving Metadata to Files in Bridge

I was looking into using Bridge across a network so that images can be quickly searched using keywords by multiple users of that network. I have since come across multiple threads stating that bridge is not suitable for use across a network as the XML data is stored to the local cache. Does this mean that if you move your files to another machine you can't see the metadata as it's stored in the cache of the old machine? Is there any way of saving this metadata to the actual files so that if a file were to be moved the metadata is moved along with it. If I were to add metadata to files in Adobe Illustrator for example would this show up in Bridge?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes they would be able to see the metadata if correctly written to the file.

Hi All,

We have released a new version of Adobe Bridge (CC 2019) on 15th October 2018. The new version build number is 9.0.0.204. This version is available to install via Adobe Creative Cloud application.

This Bridge update contains support for centrally managing the Adobe Bridge cache (https://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/using/centrally-manage-bridge-cache.html).

You may need to update the Creative Cloud application and restart your computer to see the updated installer.

Bridge is intended as a single user file browser, not as a networked multi-user digital asset management tool. Bridge does write metadata to many common file formats including Illustrator, however by design it does not write to proprietary raw camera images where the metadata is either written to the Camera Raw database or to “sidecar” XMP files.

So, if I were to write metadata to an .ai file using Bridge on my machine and email it to someone else, would they be able to see this metadata using their own copy of Bridge?
