Search for Multiple Filenames and Save As Collection in Bridge

I am looking to add custom keywords to a specific set of files. These filenames have been populated in an excel file, and are all listed in seperate rows. Is there a way to create a list using this excel file, and search for these filenames across either individual or mulitple levels of folders? Adding those found files to a Bridge Collection after the search isn't necessary, but a bonus as it can be done manually post search.

Any and all help would be much appreciated. I haven't found this ability in any of the available plugins as of Today (February 25, 2021).

Certainly! I am on Windows however, so if any Mac based users read this I would reccomend you look for similar software. UltraFileSearch is the software: UltraFileSearch and is free for 30 days. I would reccomend looking through some of the documentation on their website to get a better understanding of the features.

They do not provide keyword tagging as a feature, but once you've searched for the specific files you need theres an easy way. You would simply select all of those file, right click and head into properties. Then theres a tab at the top called 'Details' where you can now manually add in custom Tags. These tags will be applies to all of the items you're selected. That's it!

I was going to recommend the following, however, I see that you found it. Did it help?

Searching for multiple filenames in Bridge

Yes and no. I used Lumigraphics' qrTest script, and it worked perfectly the first time. Strangely, after the first time the photos wouldn't get saved into the new collection. But this was a perfect solution, and what my question is based around. I'm guessing it has something to do with the cache saved after each use, as once I cleared the cache the probem would be fixed until the 2nd time running the script again.

Thanks for replying though!

What about the final release code, wasn't the qrTest an initial proof of concept?

You can add code to refresh, I think something like this:

app.document.chooseMenuItem("PurgeCacheForSelected");
