Sort by image color not label

Hello,

Is there a way in Bridge to sort by the image color(s)? For ex:  All the predominately red images in your folder are grouped together. As you scroll, all the purple, blue, green  etc are as well.

No. Labels are stored in the file as text, NOT color. The image viewer decides how to handle the label and assign colors. A viewer wouldn't have to even use colors.

A script would need to sort by label text so that wouldn't help.

@Lumigraphics, he's not talking about Labels; as I understand him, he's talking about the predominant colors in an image.

 

Thus, if it's a bunch of photos of the sea, the predominant color would be blue. A forest: green. A desert, brown. Etc.

Ooooh. I suppose that would be some sort of AI feature, to determine the content of an image. Sadly, Bridge is nowhere near that kind of sophistication.

There "might" be a way to script that, but within Bridge, no.

 

If this is really important to you, you'll probably have to sort your images manually. If you do that, be aware that Manual sorting is prone to breaking the sort, so periodically renaming the files to maintain sort order is recommended.

Hey Gary,

A script would be great.  But sorting would take too long. I've got over a thousand images.

 

Who knows, maybe a future feature.

It will NEVER happen within Bridge because Bridge is just a file viewer. As such, it doesn't look at the file content. If anything, it's more likely to happen in one of the Lightroom versions because those do look at content. For example, in Lightroom Desktop, you can have 10,000 files and type into the search "dog," and all the images with dogs in them will be selected. This is without keywords. That will NEVER happen in Bridge.

 

Also, please note that I quotationed, italicized, and underlined the word "might," so do not put any weight on that option.
