Tracking file variations (edits across different apps) in Adobe Bridge

I'm new to Bridge and do not have a server for tracking file revisions or branches.

 

Imagine that you have a photo from some years ago and now you've created four wildly different variations within a couple of different apps, but all use the original as the primary basis. Maybe one has been turned into minialist vectors, another painted over the original photo, etc.

 

How would you use Bridge to link these 5 files together so that they don't get separated, or at the least are permanently associated and easy to pull up together in Bridge?

    Bridge is not a version control app and has no features to help with this. You can create collections or stacks, or use keywords, but this would be cobbled together at best.

      Thanks for that info. Do you know how other people would approach this, either with or without Bridge involved? I'm fairly new to things and would like to set myself on a good path, rather than face a lot of frustration and rework down the road.

      If you wish to do this and do not wish to spend a lot of money on software, do it methodically. Let me give you an example of how I deal with things like this; I use numbering and good organization. Let's say you and I were working on an image, trading the image off to each other and making changes. I'd number the images and keep all of the variations in one folder. That way, they'd be easy to find (they're all in the same folder), and it's easy to know the order (image-3.tif was done before image-4.tif).

       

      In other words, keep it simple, keep it organized, and put your time and creativity into your work, not learning new software.
