Trashcan disabled in Adobe Bridge CS6

Recently, Bridge mysteriously disabled its trashcan and no longer offers the Delete option on a drop-down for certain raw image files that are from a Nikon Camera, (extension "*.NEF"). And it's inconsistant, as well - it will allow me to delete a few of the NEF's but not most of them.  Yet I can delete these files using Windows Explorer. The Trashcan icon is grayed out to indicate it's disabled - why would it be? It looks like I have a glitch and should reinstall, but before I do, if I'm missing something here, please someone tell me what it is.

So then it’s a glitch, and not my fault. Just making sure.
