What triggers Bridge to rebuild cache/thumbnails/previews for a folder?

Or in other words, what causes it to 'lose' the existing cache? Usually it keeps the existing cache from session to session but then sometimes it seems to have 'forgotten' this folder for seemingly no good reason. What is the decision tree here?

Possibly you have your cache management set to purge older items from the cache (items more than 30 days old.) Try unticking this option in your preferences and see if that helps.

thanks for the reply. i had checked on that already though. in fact, the cache was only 1 week old when it reset.
