Hi @Jeffrey Greenberg! Sorry to hear the issue has come back. I know how frustrating that can be.

Your Intel HD Graphics 520 is a bit on the older side, so while it can handle basic tasks, it might struggle with some of the newer features in Photoshop and Camera Raw. As the apps continue to evolve, they are increasingly optimized for more modern hardware.

If upgrading your system is an option, that would definitely help. Otherwise, you might have better luck using an earlier version of the apps that is more compatible with your current setup.

Here is how you can install previous versions of Adobe apps:

Thanks again for reaching out. Let me know if you need help with any of the steps.

@Aleke

thanks for your patience; yes I need to upgrade as I have Windows 10
which will lose updating Oct 25, 2025.  Now I have reason to do asap.
Temporarily am able to use wifey's newer laptop when mine don't work.
For reason unrelated to Photoshop, I am considering newly introduced
Lenovo dual screen
laptop -- GPT-4o keywording will be faster AFAICT.
Dual screen specs are as follows & I would be upgrading wherever possible:
Processor

Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 255H Processor (E-Core Max 4.40 GHz, P-Core Max 5.10 GHz with Turbo Boost, 16 Cores, 16 Threads, 24 MB Cache)

Operating System
  • Windows 11 Pro

  • Windows 11 Home

Graphics

Intel® ARC™ Graphics

Memory

Up to 32GB LPDDR5X

Storage

Up to 1TB PCIe SSD Gen 4

Battery

88Whr

Audio

4 x 2W speakers with Dolby Atmos®

Camera

5M RGB + IR USB + dual mic Webcam with e-Privacy Shutter

Connectivity
Ports/Slots

3 x USB-C® Thunderbolt (40Gbps)

USB port transfer speeds are approximate and depend on many factors, such as processing capability of host/peripheral devices, file attributes, system configuration and operating environments; actual speeds will vary and may be less than expected.

Wireless
  • WiFi 7 802.11BE (2 x 2)

  • Bluetooth® 5.4

if willing, would you comment-speculate on its ability to handle Photoshop for next several years?
Some have warned "integrated graphics" is less powerful...?  Thanks in advance.

to clarify, here is my new post in original thread reporting reappearance of issue:

unfortunately same problem just returned;
I was able to work ~48 hours without issue,
DNGs appearing properly as thumbnails,
RAW processing panels properly working,
conversion to 16bitTIFs successfully, etc.
a batch of (9) & then (69) images;
but tonight Photoshop 2025 froze & upon
reopening, only (1) DNG would open as
large image with a few "floating panel
buttons in large white border field like previous
screen shots; rebooting no help, revisiting Intel
prompted no new or repeat updating, "system up to date";
please if possible advise -- thanks in advance;
