Question

Best way to create an ADMIN section within a course that allows a teacher to upload their own GIFT questions

Hi everyone

I would like to create a testing system that could be used by all the teachers in our school that will allow them to simply upload GIFT / TXT files that will display and randomise  a list of questions of their choice.

I have, through research of the forum, found out how to create a simple multiple choice quiz, but my question is more focused on how to allow the teachers the ability to upload questions without having any knowledge of Captivate.

My vision was to create some kind of ADMIN section that had would include an upload questions button, making the whole process idiot proof; this would upload their questions, then give them the option to run the test.

I am struggling to find a way to create this scenario, and I hope someone in this forum could point me in the right direction, or come up with any other ways to achieve my objectives.

Many thanks

Richard

Captivate has never been 'idiot proof'.  It's a challenging application at the best of times and the quizzing features are not its simplest area.

It certainly does allow importation of GIFT format questions but the Captivate user will usually then still need to do some formatting to get the questions to look right afterward.  Using GIFT just alleviates one part of the process; not make the entire thing a no brainer.

Thank you Rod, I do appreciate the limitations, I was hoping that there were others that have come up against something similar.

Perhaps this will take a little thinking outside the box, possibly creating a system that just captures questions and answers first, which will deal with the formatting issue, then the randomization and display could be a separate process.

I think more thought is required on which way to go, but thanks for you update Rod.

Incidentally, do you know of a way to get Captive to produce an UPLOAD Now button?

Many thanks

Richard
