Button does not appear at time set in timeline

I have a series of slides with .wav files containing lecture voice overs and a 'Next' button on each slide.

I did not create this presentation but have been asked to amend it so that the user must listen to the entire lecture on each slide before the 'Next' button appears.

The button should appear 2 seconds before the end of each .wav file.  This works on most of my slides, but there are two on which the button never appears and I can't work out why.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    There'll be another object on that slide that is pausing the timeline before the button can appear.  The usual culprits are other buttons or interactive objects.  In your screen shot you have a button on the second layer that is pausing the slide just after it starts.  If you don't want a button (e.g. the Back button) to pause the slide timeline then set its Timing > Pause After to OFF.

    The smartshape button at the top of the timeline is pausing the timeline at 1,5secs. Maybe you could read my articles about the timeline. Here is a link to the post talking about pausing and pausing points:
