We've released a build that addresses issues with Adobe Captivate (2019 release) on macOS Big Sur (macOS 11).

Note: This is a certified build.

We'd like your feedback, which will help us immensely as we work on the production update, which we shall release soon.

We shall keep you posted of any development on this.

Install the build

Pre-requisite: Uninstall the existing version of Captivate (2019 release).

Download the build. and double-click the dmg file. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Launch Captivate.

Does Captivate (2019 release) work on M1 chipset?

No, Captivate (2019 release) DOES NOT work on machines with M1 chipset.

We are working on this.

It didn't work for me and my co-workers. Still having the same issues. Didn't help at all.

    Thank you!

I'm so confused about these releases, it is so helpful to have help from other users.

Hello!  Is there a fix for MacBook users and the M1 chip?  Just downloaded the program and I'm receiving the black screen.

    Thanks!

This thread is NOT about the most recent build for Big Sur, which was released in February.

    Have a look at:

When will the Captivate 2019 be compatible with my Mac Mini with M1 chipset? This post is a month-and-a-half old now so I'm hoping you have the issue nearly resolved as I'm unable to run Captivate on my new work computer.

    Hello,

I installed the trial version for Captivate 2019 for Mac and I'm running into a strange issue. I'm not able to use the software at all. Every time I try to select an element my slide jumps and then I click somewhere outside the slide and an element is selected. Really strange. I'm using macOS 11.1 32 GB ram Intel i7, 8 GB graphics, with two monitors. I tried using just one monitor, same issue. Please see the attached video. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm guessing you're using Big Sur (os) because I had the same problem and was ultimately told Captivate does not work with Big Sur. They have released a patch which you can find pinned to the top of the community page, but having used it I can tell you it still doesn't really work. I can open and edit things but they don't work right when I preview or publish.

    Hopes this helps.

Or maybe not... It downloaded, installed and let me work on projects. The issue I ran into was with animation sequencing. Simple fly-in text from the left which works great when manually scrubbed and looks good when I use a Windows machine. When I use Mac, the fly-ins work, but they don't end up in the spots they are supposed to.

Thought it might be worth sharing.

New to this forum, but a Mac user since the 80s...  Have always loved Adobe programs (ever since InDesign/Pagemaker fit on an 800k floppy!) - and Captivate has been singularly frustrating.

That being said, others may benefit from my experience:  The projects I built that were not responsive kept crashing and had to be rebuilt every time (5x on one).  Now, I've had no problems with responsive projects using Big Sur.  Hooray!!  No more non-responsive projects until this Big Sur build gets beyond Beta.

    Hope that helps someone...

I uninstalled and then reinstalled the build as above. My computer has crashed, the projects won't open. When it does open, on a 360 project I cannot see the hotspots when i try to add them. It's an utter disaster

the 360 video is not 360 acting like 360 either. All I have learnt from my trial is how to bang my head against a brick wall.

    Hi Diane,

Sorry to hear about the issues you're facing.

Could you send me an email at saghosh@adobe.com mentioning the issues?

    Thanks,

    Saurav
