Captivate 8 – object disappearing and reappearing when advancing to next slide

Hi all,

I have a slightly annoying issue in a Captivate project, which I'm wondering if anyone can help with.

I have a PNG image of a character on a slide, which appears until the end of the slide.  It is then repeated in the same place from the beginning of the following slide. When the project is published, the image briefly disappears and reappears between the slides, giving a sort of 'flash' effect as it does so.  There is no time gap between the image and either the end of the first slide or the start of the second slide, so I was hoping it would stay on the screen as the slide changes over.  It seems strange that it doesn't, especially as objects on the master slide do not exhibit this behaviour so the transition between the slides appears otherwise seamless.

Is this normal behaviour or is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Thanks in advance!

Check the Timing tab when the image is selected.  Does it have a Fade-in or Fade-out applied?  Does it have any Effect applied?

    Hi RodWard

It has an entry effect on the first slide and an exit effect on the second, but no fade in or out. On both slides it is set to 'display for the rest of the slide' on the Timing tab.

Something else I forgot to ask:  Is this an HTML5 project?  If so, then the issue may be due to the fact that the PNG gets reloaded on the second slide.  Try setting the first PNG to be timed for Rest of Project and then remove the PNG from the following slide.  If this prevents the glitch, then you can use Advanced Actions to hide the PNG when the time comes to remove it from view.  It's a workaround, but better than nothing.
