Captivate 9 - Crashing my PC

Hello!

I am using Captivate 9 on a free 30 day trial period. Every time I am in captivate and I start a record session, it will record for 30 seconds or so then crash my entire computer, not just the program. My computers reliability report doesn't give much information on the reason for the crash. All it says was that Windows stopped working. I use a lot of other Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Audition, etc) with no issues. In fact, I just worked with audition for an hour to get the sound ready for the screen captured tutorial I am working on. When I am in Captivate, everything seems fine and it records fine until my computer screen just goes black and the computer restarts. When I allow the computer to check the disk for corruption, it deletes a lot of registry files that look to be recording files that probably come from Captivate. Are there any others experiencing this?

What is your RAM and hard drive capacities?

Are you recording to SSD or spinning drive?

Are you attempting to save to a remote, or external, drive?

What are you trying to record?

A web session?

An installed windows application?

A green-screen / TN3270 application?

If RodWard's advice doesn't resolve it, I'd be more aggressive in troubleshooting the crashing, as this sounds like it's the beginning of a drive failure to me.

Do you run Captivate as Administrator?

I do, yes. I have tried a lot of things that supposedly fix crashing issues, like clearing cache, etc.

Given the severity of your crashes (i.e. it's crashing the whole OS) I would recommend you do a complete reinstall of the Captivate application, making sure you also reset Preferences etc.
