Captivate 9 fly in effects on a slide cause slide to not work at all in html5

I have a few slides with some fly in effects on objects. Works fine in SWF.

When I preview HTML5 in browser or compile HTML5 and upload to my LMS, a slide with a fly in is completely blank and does not function at all. If I remove the fly in, it works just fine. Are these not supported in CP9 HTML5? I know they used to work in cp8. Even stranger is that the fly in effect is in an advanced action triggered by a button (smart shape) click, so it's not even active when the slide starts. I don't get it. What's going on and how on earth do I get around this?

I have the hotfix installed. I am running version 9.0.0.230 on a pc.

Help please!

Hmm, more investigation shows it has something to do with the background of the slide.

I started this project by importing a ppt at hifi to maintain ppt animations in other parts. Interesting that the background of slides shows as xxxx.swf

If I change the background of the slides with fly-ins to use not the ppt, the fly-ins work just fine.

This is VERY frustrating.

What's the deal adobe?

You're publishing to HTML5.  SWF objects are not supported in HTML5 output.

When you import a PPT to Captivate the PPT slide backgrounds are converted to SWF format.

Bottom line: If you are intending to output to HTML5 format, DO NOT use PPT to initiate your Captivate projects.

Whoa..... wait a second. Are you saying that PPT import is NOT supported by HTML5 output?

Is this documented anywhere?  These are two features that are supposedly huge in Captivate and now I cannot use them together?

Adobe engineers.....can you chime in please?
