Customize Memory Game - add feedback on match

Hi There,

I am writing to see if there is a way to customize the Memory Game learning interaction.  Namely, I would like to be able to provide feedback to the user when a match is found.

So:

  • 1 card is flipped
  • the 2nd card flipped is a match
  • display a text box to user with feedback on the match
  • click button to continue with game.

Is it possible to customize the learning interaction to do this, or do I need to think about building something like Lilybiri very cool Custom Concentration game?

I should say I am fairly new to Advanced Actions and I am running Captivate 9.0.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Leigh

Correct answer Lilybiri

Hi Leigh,

Thanks for your comment on my old blog post. The Game Learning interactions are customisable, but only within their design. Other learning interactions have even less customising possibilitiy. Providing feedback to a match is not included, have to disappoint you.

Creating such a game with Captivate 9 would be a lot easier than with the older versions for which I wrote the blog post. That kind of 'advanced' use of actions in Captivate will certainly be included in the Cookbook for actions that I'm writing at this moment. This is meant to be a warning, try first to get to grip with advanced, shared actions and variables. Do not forget the new multistate objects! Combined with actions this allows a lot more in Captivate with less developing time.

I just wanted to say thank you Lilybiri‌!  I was able to create the game using a combination of conditional actions and the multistate objects.  Thank you for the tip!!

You're welcome. I marked this thread as 'Assumed answered', if that is OK for you? I didn't mark a correct answer.
