How do I change the settings so that I do not have to press the Enter key to register clicks on a software simulation?

I want the mouse clicks to register in the training I am creating.

    What do you mean by 'register'? Are you using a software simulation in Training or Assessment mode and do you want to score the clicks? There is no need to use Enter at all, it may be a shortcut key for the click on the click box, just an alternative, not a necessity.

    When I am using the mouse to select a drop down, for example, nothing happens. I have to press the enter key to acknowledge the click.

    That is not at all the default behavior in a software sim. Please: which mode did you use?  Can you post a screenshot of the stage and the timeline for such a slide? Normally the click box should be over the top of the dropdown menu, when that is clicked the navigation should go to the next slide with the open dropdown menu, where the user will have to click the correct choice using another click box. Which version do you use? If you are on Win do you run Captivate as administrator?
