How to do text like karaoke

Hi All,

I am using Adobe Captivate 2017 but I could not solve a problem. I want to do that when speaking/voiceover goes on text color should change like karaoke. So, is there anyone who solved this problem before? I do not mention Closed Caption. I want to do that on the page.

How can I do that?

It would require having the voiceover text showing in a text object on the background layer, plus other objects on upper layers for each separate word. These higher level objects (in the different colour) would need to be carefully placed on top of their relevant words in the background and timed to appear and disappear in synch with the audio.

Personally, I think this is way too much trouble.

There may be a way to automate this more with JavaScript, and wrapping each word in <span> tags with CSS coding. But that would also require a lot more work than it would be worth (in my opinion).

Yes, I thought the same solution. Some of my customers request this feature to add their eLearning content. I have searched on the internet and forums but could not find any solution. On the other hand, I have tried the do it by myself but it is taking too much time. That's why I have written this question here.

RodWard, I think there is an opportunity to create an addon on this.

I hope other forum users share their thoughts with us.

If by "add on" you mean a widget, I would have to disagree with you.  As far as I am aware, in all the years I have been on this forum you are the first and only person ever to request this feature.

Over the years I've been in this business I have heard many such ideas. But the fact that programmer/developers capable of building widgets for Captivate are almost non-existent should tell you there is no real money to be made in building them. Spending all the time required to design, code, test and debug a widget that only one or two people might eventually purchase isn't a compelling business case.
