Is there any way to have Captivate 9 report variables like user name and quiz score to a text document or spreadsheet instead of an LMS, either locally on the PC or device, or to Google doc's Perhaps using JavaScript?

This would be so useful.  I don't need a whole LMS, but I do want to save the data. I know you can open a file with Javascript, but can you then save variables to it?  How?

Excellent question healthedsamurai,

I would like to know if there is a technique or widget that allows user variables to be saved when a presentation is closed. Those variables could then be reloaded once the presentation is opened again. Maybe a text file or a database. This would be really useful for students to know where they were in the presentation after restarting the course.

You are referring to variable data persistence?

In HTML5 the variables are persisted in Local Storage on the end user's browser.

You can achieve this using the CpExtra HTML5 widget from Infosemantics:

I am developing a solution for the OP, where the users are on controlled computers. Then the admin of that computer can run a webpage that retrieves the variables and downloads a formatted CSV file containing time stamped quizzing information.

You can contact us to see if we could work out a solution for you.
