Photos and text Lost on Publish and Preview in Captivate

Alight.  Captivate.

I inherited a project I'm trying to complete.  The entire project is nearly complete; however, whenever I go to preview in browser or publish to a video, text and photos are gone.  At first, I had some sections with the red box, and after updating each slide to maximum quality, those red boxes left. I am now finding that as the file progresses text and images are not fading in like they should.  On the timeline in captivate it looks alright, and in the preview in the program itself it works like it should.

I have a background in after effects, and I find captivate very limiting and its very frustrating not being able to solve what appears to be a simple problem without relative ease.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  To my knowledge every slide is visible and seems fine in captivate.  Is there a setting I'm missing with the objects options?

Best,

Derek

I was having the same issue on Preview.  I found this in another discussion.

Please help me! I am new to Captivate and I am using Captivate 2017. I am working to turn a power point into elearning. When I uploaded the powerpoint for some reason the pictures on the first slide did not come over. I see them while I'm creating the elearning but when I preview, there are no pictures. That is driving me crazy. I'm pretty sure that I selected high def when importing the power point. Please tell me how to fix it? I have gone back to the power point and tried to move the pictures forward and to the front. It still doesn't show when I preview.

I saw your post about going to preferences and changing it to high def. That didn't work either.

The next question, one of the power point slides had a youtube video embedded. When I imported the slide I could not see the youtube video so I just deleted that slide and figured I would try to link it another way. The video is in my Captivate library. Is there a reason I did not see the video when importing to Captivate? Is there a quick fix?

I would share the project here but I don't see an option.

Some questions: which version are you using (exact version number please)? Is this a normal or a responsive project? Will the output be SWF or HTML? You talk about Preview: which Preview method did you use, best are F12 and F11, both Preview in Browser, one for SWF and the other for HTML.

Visibility of objects in Output can be turned off with the eye button in the Properties panel.

Is the fading in due to a Transition (not supported for all output) or to an Effect?

After Effects is a totally different app, not meant for eLearning, it is like comparing apple with banana. Timeline is different (I am busy publishing a sequence of articles about the timelien), and AE has not the functionality of creating interactivity like Captivate.  CP is not a video nor an animation tool.

Version 9.0.0.437

This is a normal project.

To my understanding, the immediate need is for it to be a video for HR orientation/training.  If/when this is upload to the elearning center, I believe HTML5 will be the preferred output.

Both.

Visibility of objects in Output can be turned off with the eye button in the Properties panel.

I didn't know this before, this is great to know; I never noticed the eye.  However, all are visible.

Is the fading in due to a Transition (not supported for all output) or to an Effect?

Appears to be due to a transition, vs. effect.  What baffles me is that there are some items fading in as it should, but others not while all have the transition > fade effect. I even created a stand-in text caption box with an effect based (alphaFromTo) fade in and it does not show up either on preview in browser.

This I know. I wanted to provide background to my level of experience to complicated Adobe product lines, as well as provide knowledge of how I usually approach problems.

CP is not a video nor an animation tool

Tell that to the person who was designing this project in the first place.

It should be 9.0.2.437, but that was a typo maybe? That is the most recent version.

Did you publish already? If you want to publish to video which means mp4,  you do not have interactivity at all? No pauses on the timelines, no buttons to be clicked etc. I wonder if this is perhaps an upgraded project from a previous version to explain the issues you are seeing. Did you uncheck the compression options (for the red boxes) in Preferences, Project, Size and Quality? It must be a heavy file perhaps? Images are best scaled to exactly the needed size (in px) that you'll need them in Captivate. Resizing them in Cp is not a good idea. Whenever possible, replace the bitmap images by SVG. Transitions are a legacy from older versions, you could try to replace thme by an Alpha from To effect.
