Playing captivate 8 in iFrame

All -

I am working on something using a captivate 8 module and while it does have review questions in it, there will be no scoring functionality. The system we're using it on will require us to either open a new window to play it in or to send it through an iFrame.

I have the Module assets being severed from an https:// server, but for some reason, the iframe shows up but just shows the loading spiny thing and never loads.

Is there something unique to html 5 captivate that I need to account for in the iFrame?

Just curious as to why that wouldn't load.

Thanks in advance!!

jon

I was able to fix this same problem by creating an html5 page with the embedded iframe, then embedding the html5 page link into an iframe. So essentially, it's an iframe in an iframe. Poof, the spinning wheel went away and I had content that functioned properly.

Thanks for that update Kwalker5! Seems like so many hoops to jump through to get something so simple to work. I am finding that any kind of learning course creation that isn't nearly 100% vanilla falls outside the native ability in Captivate. It's kind of troubling in a way. I know that being creative in the way you develop these things is the sum total of what we do, but sometimes its like pulling teeth to get something to work. I appreciate you passing along your "discovery!!!"

    Much appreciated.

I spoke with an Adobe Captivate representative on April 3rd who said, "Captivate 8 HTML5 responsive template will not play in an iframe (in all browsers), but the swf output does. We will pass along to our developers and get back to you if we come up with a solution." Have not heard from them yet.

I'm afraid I needed to go another direction due to time constraints, but will try to figure this out when I have some more time. Sorry for not coming up with an answer.

    Hello Cozmicone,

For all browsers, desktop and mobile, for the latest Captivate 8 (subscription), I see a spinning loading icon whenever I attempt to place Captivate HTML5 output in an iframe.

Any advice or things to try would be appreciated!

I´m going to give you and advice, first off all you need to find what can be causing this.

For that press F12 in Chrome before accessing the content with the Iframe,  then go to Console, and paste the error that shows there.
