Quiz: Sometimes unable to select answers in quiz

We have created a quiz within a Captivate module that has been exported as SCORM 1.2 and uploaded to our Cornerstone LMS. When some users attempt to answer the quiz questions, their clicks do not register and they are unable to answer the questions. Other users of the exact same module have no trouble at all. We have tried multiple browsers, but we are still seeing the same inconsistencies. Because they are unable to mark their responses to the questions, the module is not marked as complete, which makes it an even more frustrating issue.

Any ideas?

Have you been able to track what browsers, and which version of each, the successful and failing users had used?

CornerStone has the ability to set IE compatibility for each file uploaded. I had a course that was giving me fits until I changed the IE compatibility restriction to more recent versions!

I set it to require IE 9, instead of IE7.

Do these issues occur when there is high load on the LMS server?

I am thinking that the appearance of the user's clicks not being registered could be due to the Captivate module waiting for the LMS to respond after it has just sent some interaction data.  If the server is under heavy load and unable to process all the requests being thrown at it, then there will be some latency and the Captivate module will not accept more user input until it has made sure the last data was accepted and acknowledged by the server.

In very high load situations, the server may be losing the API connection.

So, it might be worth testing the same Captivate modules on a different LMS (e.g. SCORM Cloud) and have the same users that experienced issues on your current LMS try to access the ones on SCORM Cloud to see if they still cannot complete the module.  If they CAN use it fine in SCORM Cloud, then the evidence would appear to be indicating an issue with your LMS.

Thanks Rod. If we change the questions so they are not graded, does that eliminate the interaction with the LMS on each question slide? Thinking that if we tried it and experienced no issues, that would eliminate the LMS as the cause. Our LMS provider says its a content authoring issue, so trying to narrow it down.

LMS vendors ALWAYS blame the authoring tools.  You can bank on that.

The best way to call them out is to upload the same 'defective' content to another reputable LMS (and there are NONE more reputable than SCORM Cloud).

Nine times out of ten this same package seems to work fine with SCORM Cloud.  When you go back to the LMS vendor and put this evidence under their nose, all of a sudden they're much more willing to look into the issue and get some of their 'technical people' involved in helping you.
