Video does not play

Hi,

I'm creating a training tool in Captivate 9 that includes instructional videos. Unfortunately, then I publish the file and run it in a browser the videos are not playing. I thought it had something to do with flash, but when I published the file to HTML 5, the videos don't play either. The videos play if I preview the project and they also play if I publish to an EXE.

They videos played before in the browser, but for some reason they don't play anymore. Would this have something to do with where I'm publishing the files to?

I've tried adding folders to the trusted sites in my Flash Global settings, but didn't do anything.

Any help would be appreciated!

Having the very same issue...I've tried all Web publishing options...including uploading to the server. Below is a picture of what I'm getting.

The first frame of the video displays but then we get the "working" animation shown in the picture above and it never goes away until the time for the video is used up. Then it goes on to the next video and the same thing happens. The MP4 videos work fine if you execute them by clicking on them directly.

We are executing from the "FARM Computer Based Training.htm" file which executes the .swf file. If we attempt to execute the "index.html" we get a pop-up from IE asking if we want to allow an active-x object to execute. If I say 'yes' everything works fine. But there's no way to disable that Active-x message so that will be unacceptable to the client.

I'm pretty sure that your clients won't see the ActiveX warning, you only see that when you run the files locally, it won't be there if you access the files on a server.

You can get rid of that message yourself in the Internet Options/Advanced Tab/Security/ Check the first two option to allow activeX to run from files and cd's on my computer.

How are you linking the files?

If the files are linked in an absolute fashion with a File:/// link to your authoring system, publishing local, testing in a webbrowser, and publishing to an EXE file will all work on your local machine, but testing on another computer will reveal the errors.

As RodWard states above, Sometimes HTML5 content will only work properly when served from a web server (or LMS).

I'd phase it more generally that Sometimes Captivate content will only work properly when served from a web server (or LMS).
