Videos recorded in Captivate won't play upon publishing

Hello everyone!  I'm looking for some help, here.  I've been troubleshooting for a while and can't seem to find a solution to the exact problem I'm facing.

I have recorded some systems training videos using Captivate 7 that are not playing once the projects are published.  I have edited them and they work fine in the preview, but once I publish in SWF format, they don’t play.  At least not properly.  The screen image does not progress, nor does the audio play.  Some sporadic animations i set up do appear and seem to follow the timeline of the original video, though.

It doesn't seem to matter whether I publish these files in a ZIP file or not.  I'm testing these on a Sharepoint site but they will eventually be posted to my company's LMS.

Has anyone encountered this before?  Does anyone have any advice that may help me get past this technical glitch?

Correct answer RodWard

Upload your content to SCORM Cloud online LMS and test it there.  If the video works from SCORM Cloud without changing anything, then your issue is with the way Sharepoint is set up.  If the video won't work in SCORM Cloud either, then there's something wrong with the way your project is set up.  Perhaps the link to the video file is still showing a path to the video file that is only valid on your own machine, which means the link will break when the content is placed anywhere else.

RodWard thanks for the advice on this.  I don't have access to a SCORM cloud, but am going to get this file uploaded to the LMS and test it from there.  I will keep you posted!

It could be that Sharepoint is not set up to allow that format of video file to play.

Upload your content to SCORM cloud and test.  If it works there, upload the same package to your LMS and try it out.

Thanks so much for the reply, Rod.  Captivate automatically recorded the simulator video in MP4 format.  I can publish the video file separately on Sharepoint (to be launched with Windows Media Player) and that seems to work without issue.

I have published in both SCORM and non-SCORM formatting and can't manage to get the videos to play.  Everything else in the project works fine.

When the video screen comes up, I get a scrolling wheel that makes it look like the video is loading, but it never does.  The animations appear, including the "Continue" button that shows up at the end to advance the project.  But the video itself showing different screens and mouse movement as well as the audio, is all missing.

Hmmm.  *scratches head*
