Question

Can I just export just the mouth. Think Chesire Cat

Greetings fellow animators. I've watched and enjoyed a lot of OK SAMURAI videos. Now I'm currently testing some workflows, and one of them involves me just exporting the puppet's mouth.

I want to create a fully lip synced mouth on a puppet, but then turn off all but one of the face features and export just the mouth. That way I can place the lip synced mouth onto some footage in Adobe Premiere.

It'd be cool to do this with the eyes too. I'd like to create eye movement like blinking, staring, darting pupils, etc. and then bring that into Premiere to lay over some footage. Everytime I turn off the head layer in rigging, the mouth disappears.

is this possible? Who's got a workflow for me? Big thanks to Dave Werner for getting me this far 😃

@oksamurai does a video where he puts an animated head on a body, ((2) How To Animate Your Head (Adobe Character Animator Tutorial) - YouTube) so I bet the process is the same. One thing to remember is that CH will keep track of all of the parts even if they're not visible. So if you really need to get rid of something, delete that layer from the original.

Are you turning off the head _group_ (which contains the mouth)? If so, try turning off the head pixel layer(s) instead of the group — since turning off a group effectively turns off everything in that group, including subgroups.
