Question

Can I put a head on an arm?

I'm attempting to make a robot television monitor that is hanging from the ceiling from a mechanical arm. So the arm moves like an arm. But at the end of the arm is the monitor acts as the head/face of the robot. To make the arm move the way I want it to. I have to add the Limb IK. But when I do that, it wants to treat the Monintor head as a hand. And it just flops around. I need the monitor head to stay up right vertically as the arm moves it around. Any ideas of the best way to set this up?

Is the "Attach To" type Weld or Hinge? (Try Hinge!). If that does not work, you might look at Magnets.

Sorry for the late reply. I was away for the holidays. So I tried hinge. And it did what I wanted. BUT, now the monitor isn't attaching right. I even tried putting a magnet on the end of the monitor and the end of the hand, but it didn't help. Here's some images. Let me know if you can see what I'm doing wrong.

I always set "attach to" type as "Auto" (never a layer name) - I never got anything other than "Auto" to work. (Your screenshot shows "Network Overlord".) You then drag the origin of the Head (err, Hand?) over the body artwork (yellow highlighted region) so the body turns pale green (indicating correct attachment). Children attach to parents (not the other way around).

(I would not bother with magnets unless needed. Sounded like Hinge was working - I would proceed with that.)
