Question

Can't capture in OBS

I've been trying to troubleshoot this the past few days and I can't seem to get it working.

I go and download the NDI tools for windows. Made sure both OBS and character animater where closed while installing. The stream icon thing in character animator was blue, meaning everything should have installed correctly. So I go into edit preference to chnage my live output. I only see NDI output and not newtek NDI output like all other walkthroughs show. I didn't think much of it at the time. I open studio monitor and realize that it will only show what my character is doing if I have character animator as my active screen, and even then it wont capture all of it. I  go into OBS and the option to captor the NDI output isn't there.

I have:

Restarted my computer.

Redownloaded the NDI files after fully deleteing them off my computer

Redownloaded OBS

I've looked through the forms and google and I can't seem to find a fix for this.

Not sure about the lag - could it simply be the computer is not keeping up? To do real time streaming sometimes it has to drop frames etc. (Not sure.)

I don't think the NewTek toolkit includes the OBS extension. I had to get that separately, and had to find a version of OBS that was compatible with the extension too. It was a while ago when i tried though. Check through the forums - an adobe staff member posted a newer video that might help...

Shouldn't be my computer. I checked the reccomended specs before even starting this and made sure my computer was strong enough. Do you have a link to the video, or remember what it's called so I can go looking for it?

"and even then it wont capture all of it" - could you expand? Maybe show a screenshot?

Have you installed the OBS extension to capture NDI streams? OBS needs that extension to see the output stream. The fact that the NDI video monitoring tool works indicates CH is sending the video stream - sounds like the problem is OBS seeing it.

It wont capture all of the motions of the character. I could be talking and blinking but the NDI screen wont pick up all of it and it will lag.

According to the walkthroughs I followed the extension should automatically be added to OBS once you download the toolset, right? That could very well be my error. Have to figure out how to get the entension now.
