Character Animator crashes once I try to import illustrator files

My Adobe Character Animator works perfectly with imported psd files. I can't import an illustrator file though. Once I import the file, any ai file for that matter; Character Animator crashes. I saw this problem two weeks ago, that one hasn't been fixed yet unfortunately.

If you're on Mac High Sierra, this is a known bug some users are facing and will be fixed in the next upcoming update.
