Character Animator Rigging

My artwork keeps getting distorted by walk, motion library, etc.

Everything rigged according to Okay Samurai tutorials.

Frontal view has two fixed points for feet on the ground (also distrorting artwork even when standing still), and I made two quarterside views for walking and dancing.

I have not used anything more than Limb IK, Head&Body Turner and Walk. All points also tagged according to Okay Samurai.

Layers are distributed in the following order:

Character:

    -Head:

          >Frontal

          >Quarterside Left

          >Quarterside Right

   -Body:

          >Frontal

          >Quarterside Left

          >Quarterside Right

The only thing I can say based on your text description is "Fixed" handles are not meant to keep feet on the ground for full-body puppets. Limb IK should take care of foot pinning instead.

I can give more specific help if you can share your puppet on cloud storage like Dropbox/Google Drive/Creative Cloud.

Another recommendation is to take a look at existing puppets and start your work from there. It seems like you are interested in using the motion library with body turns. A special version of Ninja in the motion library page (not the one in the app) is a good example of this. https://pages.adobe.com/character/en/motionlibrary

Thanks for the quick answer!

Really can't wrap my head around this 😞

Here's the dropbox link:

Minimal work needed for the left and right walk to work:

  • Make the "Head" layer independent (crowned)
  • Add "Left (Right) Profile" view to "Left (Right) Quarterside" layer
  • Properly rig "Left Quarterside" (no body tags, arms and legs not rigged)
  • Walk behavior: set "Behavior Interaction" to "Combine"

To test, set Walk behavior's "Mode" to "Left & Right Arrow Keys" and use arrow keys in the Record tab.

I would also take out "Fixed" handles in the "Frontal" layer to avoid any future issues.

It seems like the puppet is still heavily WIP so I will stop here. Let us know if you need further help setting it up with the motion library etc. Good luck!
