Character animator will not load character

I was in the middle of streaming when suddenly character animator just went white like the entire interface just turned white. I had to use the task manager to get out of the program. I restarted my computer and now the character animator will not load my characters in scenes or record. Any ideas on what is going on? 

Note: I can open a new template character but that is about it.
