Hi,

Does anyone know how to animate a character riding a bicylce in Character Animator? I've tried to find an online tutorial but can't seem to find anything for Ch Animator.

Thanks!

I'm following this as well. I stumbled on this IG channel recently and was wondering how hard would this be to do in Character Animator or if AE would be a better tool to do a setup like this.

For that video, so little is animating my guess is both would probably be pretty easy... although I have no experience with AE really 😂.

Character animator woudl allow you to define the legs, anchor one end (top of legs), put sticks in legs so bends at knee, then put a dragger on the feet. But you would manually have to record the feet moving in a circle for peddles. Ch does not support a layer having two points with different parents.

Hmm, one trick you could experiment with if wanted. Create a circle where the pedals are, hide the layer, keyframe rotation of the circle. Then add as children of the circle two legs, independent, attached with hinge on opposite sides of the circle where the two pedals are. The rotating wheel would then move the feet (and the rest of the legs go everywhere). Then add a dragger to the top of the leg and drag it to the hips and make a recording of that point being still. That i hope will anchor the legs at the top in the right position for the body.

What would I do? I would use cycle layers and just draw say 6 frames of legs in different positions in photoshop etc then use a cycle layers behavior to flip between the different leg positions. Then you get complete control and no funky messing around. You can add a Transform behavior to the wheel layers and use keyframing to rotate the wheels to make it look like the wheels are turning.

'But anything like a leash betwee a person and a dog, or legs attached to hi[s and pedals - there is nothing in Ch I know that can do that.
