Question

Does the Origin Anchor have to be green to properly hinge arms?

At first I was not seeing the green origin anchor from the body (Like in the Okay Samurai tutorial at 14m 50s). So I thought I was doing something wrong, I posted 4 images in 1 to show what it looked like (with labels to explain whats going on in the image). I then decided to go ahead and try creating the "arm bones" and draggable hand with shoulder hinge, and I noticed in Scene Mode I am now able to move the arm. Is this going to pose any problems going forward?
- Thanks in advance 🙂

I expect if you move the arm a lot, the shoulder may come away from the body. Currently the shown origin is around the elbow. If  you move the hand, I expect the elbow not to move. That will reduce the upper arm movement, so it might not move too bad near the shoulder most of the time. But if you move the hand more (or want the elbow to move) then that set up will cause a problem.

Normally you move the origin (shown near your elbow, with a dotted line back to the body origin) up to the shoulder, ideally to a point where your arm artwork overlaps the body artwork a bit to get a "clean" connection point. Otherwise I *think* it will hold the shoulder relative to the waist. If you twist the upper body, the arm might then come away.

Apologies for my delayed repsonse!

Thank you so much for the insight, I'm glad to know the details.

I guess I need a bit more practice! 🙂

All the best,

Take care! 😄

Whoops, I posted the wrong 4 in 1, here is the updated image with clearer information. Sorry about that!
