Duplicated Puppets Appearing

Character Animator 1.5 (as I cannot upgrade until my laptop is Windows 10)

In Photoshop, I've created a few round objects (balls).  Initially, I created them as separate layers and put a + in front of the layer name.

I imported the Photoshop file.  When I applied the dynamic property to the balls, suddenly there were two of each.  Oddly, for 2 of the balls, both copies fell due to the dynamic gravity.  With the third ball, one copy fell while the other stayed in place floating.

I went back to Photoshop and put each of the balls into separate folders.  I put the + on the folder name and removed it from the layer name.  This removed the dynamic property from the ball back in CA as expected.  Once I applied the dynamic property, the duplication happened again.  I even deleted one of the ball layers and created a new ball layer.  Duplication again.

Next I tried deleting one of the ball layers, so the ball folder was empty.  I created a new ball layer, but not inside the folder.  It appeared normal in CA.  I moved it into its corresponding ball layer--duplication again.

Removing the dynamic property eliminated the duplicate.  But as soon as I reapply dynamic, two balls appear and fall.

Really trying to solve this and eliminate it, I tried one more set of steps.  Deleted the ball layer and folder.  Created a new ball layer, did not give the layer name a +.  In CA, it appeared as normal.  It was at this point I solved the problem.

I initially put the balls puppet into a scene and inadvertently zoomed way out.  Upon zooming back in, I didn't center the scene so it was off screen.  The ball duplication happened because I put another copy of the puppet into the scene, which appeared properly zoomed and centered.
