Dynamic Link Color Shift in After Effects

When I import a Character Animator Scene into After Effects, there is a significant color/luminance shift. Everything is much darker and contrasty. Now I can fix this with a Lumetri effect by raising the contrast but I want to get to the bottom of this.

I exported the same scene from Charatcer Animator and dropped it into After Effects. No color shift. I imported the PSD File from the puppet. No color shift.

Now when I change the color space in After Effects to something like Rec 709, then the EXPORT (H264) changes color and matches with the Dynamic Link Scene (so they both have the same awful color shift now) BUT the PSD File stays the same (correct color display). Now if I export a PNG from Character Animator there is no color shift.

Please hlep me understand what is going on here. Or maybe there already exists a tutorial on After Effects and color spaces?
