FAQ: Error Code 146 when trying to install or update Character Animator

If you are getting the following error message when trying to install or update Character Animator:

     Sorry, installation failed

     We are unable to move the file. Please

     rename the file, then try again. (Error Code:

     146) More information

     (Clicking "More information" might show an Exit Code: 146 error, with a "WARN: Failed to move directory" line that references a target directory inside the '/System/Library/Components/PDFImporter.component'.)

Try the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Restart your machine, then attempt the installation/update again.
2. If that doesn't solve the issue, uninstall Character Animator first via the Creative Cloud application (for the Character Animator CC entry, click the button to the right of the Open button, then choose Uninstall). Then, reinstall Character Animator.
