Question

Footsteps and walk cycle

I would like to add footsteps to a walk cycle, as I have several characters walking in the snow.

A few questions.

1) I understand that this wasn't supported in Adobe Character Animator as of February 2020.  Anyone know if it's been added, or is coming soon?

2) If not, any advice on what Adobe programs I could use to most easily add the footstep sounds?  I have a lot of walking in my animation, so am hoping it can be as automated as possible.

Thanks!

Just in case anyone else was wondering if there is a relatively clean way to do this!  I found a footstep sound where the time of each step matched the stride lenfth of my puppet.  Then whenever my puppet was walking, I added a footstep sound to Adobe Audition (making sure the footstep sounds only played while the puppet was walking).

To make it easier to manage, I put all footsteps for each puppet into its own Footstep track and then exported that out of Audition and into Character Animator.  Hope that helps!

There's no way to automate this easily, but a typical workflow would be to create the sound design of your animation after it's finished. You can import something like a ProRes file into Adobe Audition and apply your SFX there. You can then export directly out of Audition or queue to Adobe Media Encoder.
