I want to record a screencast with a puppet.

Hi there.  I want to record my pc screen using screencast software but at the same time I want the adobe puppet to be on my screencast mimicking what I am saying so that in the screencast it appears as if he is talking to the viewer and explaining what is going on in my screen.  Is it possible to place the puppet on your screen and do this or would I need to add the puppet to the screencast afterwards?

 

I would appreciate any ideas.

I believe the easiest and fastest way would be to place the puppet after, but if your making a series or something you can set this up with OBS studios. You will need to download and configure a few things though.

You don't have to livestream it though. One last thing, you won't be able to see your own puppet until after you export the recording.

I suspect what Joshua said is what you want - screen casting software can merge separate streams. Sometimes its easier with separate computers (one running CH, one running the game or whatever).

 

But I wanted to give you another option. If you create a video file (with audio) of say you playing the game, you can separate out the audio track (e.g. using Adobe Audition) then load that file into CH and record a puppet using Create LipSync from Audio (from a file). You can then use Premier Pro or After Effects to overlap the puppet recording over the top of the screencast. This would not be live-streaming, but it is an alternative.

 

For some screen casts I did, I ended up using live streaming because it was faster - no need to go back and reprocess the sound etc. Lower quality, but less elapse time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocEGCSF3xuY&list=PLhEZhIYcvExr_NCxbUTrHAIUBMxAG737e&index=4
