Illustrator Puppet has missing Parts in Import

So I recently made a puppet in illustrator but for some reason whenever I import her into Character Animator, parts of her body are missing, specifically her shoulder/shirt sleeve area. (I can't take a picture at this time)

I have a clipping mask over it to give it a stripe through the sleeve. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with what's causing this.

Like it shows up fine in the Illustrator file, but when I import it into Character Animator the sleeves are missing and the clipping masked stripe only shows up.

any ideas of how to fix this?

You can use clipping masks in Ch on artwork that came from Illustrator, but while Ch will apply clipping masks applied in Photoshop in Ch, I don't think there's a mapping for Illustrators clipping masks or blending modes. I'll ask the developer that'd know for sure, though.

DanT gets it right, naturally.

You might also try AI's "expand appearance" on the object that is clipped; this bakes the clipping into the artwork into something simpler that Ch can translate better.

And regardless, if you point us to the file in question we can have a look and see if anything is misbehaving/suggest better workarounds.

Maybe I missed an update then!

DanTull could you educate us Plz?

Character Animator does not support all AI features, clipping masks being one of them. I remember some talk of turning the layer into a “smart object” may help (I think it caches the result of the image ... something like that) - but sorry, I have no experience with smart objects in AI (you might get lucky searching the forums for that term).  Alternatively you can try using the CH clipping support to do the clipping instead.

Don’t forget there is an area at top of forums for submitting feature requests! ;-)

weird, I found an older forum suggestion saying clipping masks are usable in Character animator now, and I have a clipping mask on her skirt and the skirt is just fine.
