I recently have this 2d project and i wanted to know if the animation in adobe character animator can move in the 4 directions instead of moving left and right  just like the serie "the simpsons"

Best I know of is the section “Walk: Arm and leg movements in Quarter views” on Adobe Character Animator Help | Control puppets using behaviors . It seems like its still left/right, but it adjusts the body movements a bit knowing that its a quarter view of the puppet. (I have never used it - new to v2.0.). But towards/away from camera I don’t think is supported. The problem I think is if you look at WonderBoy, you want things like seeing the underside of the foot of the shoe when walking towards the camera. So instead of walk cycle support, they just use cycle layers.

That is, you can walk in all directions yourself if you want to by drawing multiple frames of the puppet by hand and cycling through them. You could just do the legs I guess. You would have to do the body bobbing up and down by hand. Maybe if combined with “replays” now supported it might be usable in practice.
