libgit2 error -3(9/Object not found... - Shared Storage Solution?

We've been rocking along with CA for a while now - but having a heck of a time with our shared storage workflow.  Generally if the same systems access their files they created we have no issues - but now I can't even dynamic link to files.  I'm getting this error when trying to open an old project...tried most of the usual fixes (uninstall/install CH, make sure there is an object folder)....but nothing on this.  Is there anything we can do?  Seems crazy we can't operate off a shared stoarage device (I get dropbox, google, etc) - but a straight up NAS device should be fine.
