Merging different takes into one timeline

Question

I have an animation that has multiple takes synched to playing musical instruments but I am creating hundreds of individual takes... is there anyway to merge these different takes into a single "take" timeline rather than new ones?

You can use the little arrow to collapse the expanded view, but I don't know of a way to merge them like you can in Photoshop or Illustrator with layers. There is a separate area for feature requests - top right corner of CH now has an icon to take you there.
