Question

Mouth set triggers not playing back

Hello. I have a character I created using PuppetMaker that has three mouth sets (Default Mouth, Happy, Mouth, Sad Mouth all inside a "Mouths" group) and I have triggers set for them as a swap set. I can sucessfuly trigger them before recording and after I record them, the trigger changes show up on the timeline. However, when I play back the scene, the mouth style doesn't change. Only the default is shown.

This also affects lip sync. The lip sync only shows up for the default mouth and the other two mouths don't activate during playback even when the timeline indicates a change.

The "Mouths" group has no tag applied and each mouth set has a blue "Mouth Group" tag. If I tag the "Mouths" group with the "Mouth" tag, CH reports rigging issues for all the visemes in the Neutral and Sad mouth sets.

Tagging the mouth sets with the "Mouth" tag doesn't make any difference.

Any help appreciated.

Neutral mouth is not the same as default mouth. Unless I miss my guess, the puppet is ignoring all of the options in the Mouths group, as it doesn't recognize it by that name. Which puppet maker puppet are you using?

I'm using the "Jackie" character from this page: Puppet Maker. I'll try renaming the neutral group to default and see if that helps.

So, changing the name didn't make a difference, but I did find something interesting. The puppet has a bunch of Replays built in that use the mouth positions. If I edit a replay and change the mouth position, they don't play back correctly on the timeline. However, when I save the replay and run it, the changes do show up.

Is there some kind of caching issue going on?
