Mouth Swap Set/ Alternate mouths not working

Hey there, I'm having an issue with my mouth swap sets. It was working before fine but it's been a few months since I've used CH. 

I believe I have everything set up correctly in the hierarchy but when I go to record the alt mouth that I trigger it doesn't lipsync. It seems to stay stuck on the first layer & won't override the neutral mouth. I've watched several tutorials and looked through the forum but nothing I've tried has worked.

My last edit was to create a +Mouthgroup layer, then nest the different Mouths underneath with the respective visemes in the group of each mouth layer.

Any help with this?
