Question

New Puppet from Ps.... or Import... what is the difference?

Please excuse me for the following, simple question, but I'm just working my way through the Users Guide.

Creating a Puppet.

You have to select a file from either Ai, or Ps and this is done by going to the Welcome Page and selecting New Puppet from Ps, or Ai, or Importing the Ps, or Ai files.

So, my questions are... Are the Template Files at the Welcome Page... psd files, if I had chosen Ps? If they are, is Import; File>Import and Puppet>New Puppet from Ps, the same?

    Thanks for the reply!

The Blue Guy's fine, but I will check the others out in time.

Saved the Blue Guy as psd on the desktop and when I imported it did do the same, as I expected. Adobe seem to like giving different ways of achieving the same thing... I suppose we all have preferences!? I like the drag and drop the psd on the Project Panel...

Thanks for your input and I'll leave you in peace. Hope your having a good weekend!?

New Puppet will always give you that blue guy, Stannie, as an AI or PSD file. He's got his parts named in canonical auto-tagged ways to show you the basics of how a puppet works. But you could just as easily create a PSD or AI file from scratch and then do File > Import to bring it in. And if blue dudes aren't your thing, we have a ton more example characters you can check out as well: Character Animator Examples
