No mic input from USB audio interface Presonus Studio24c

I cannot get CA to recognize audio input from my Audio Technica mic plugged in to my Presonus Studio24c USB audio interface on my MacBookPro.  Other audio input sources are recognized by CA including internal mic and other apps (i.e. Adobe Audition) can record from the mic on the USB interface with no problem. 

 

I have attached a screencap from Preferences>Audio Hardware>Settings. Under Settings, I cannot move the slider for Master under Master Stream, which I assume has something to do with the issue.

 

Any clues on how to get CA to recognize the mic input from the USB audio interface?

Just as a follow-up, I was never able to get CA to recognize the Studio24c mic input so I returned it and got a MOTU M2 USB audio interface instead, and it has no problem with working as a mic source in Character Animator.  Plus, it's a higher quality audio interface than the Studio24c too.
