Non stock characters "float" above scene in CA as opposed to the stock ones

Question

Why do the puppets I create, when imported to CA, "float" as opposed to the CA stock ones whose "feet" remain still.  Your assistance is appreciated greatly

A lot of it depends on what you need the puppet to do. Perhaps the easiest way to get the feet to stay on the ground is to add a stick at the bottom where the feet are and add a "fixed" tag to it.
