Question

Puppet only showing frontal view when recording

Hello,

I've been using Character Animator for a class, so I'm still a bit new to it. So far I have all 5 sides of my puppet rigged, Left Profile, Right Profile, Right Quarter View, Left Quarter View, and Frontal View.

The camera and body tracker will sometimes work, especially when idle. However, when I start recording a motion it doesn't register the profile view.

For example, I am trying to record a Catwalk continuous motion with the Right Profile view. Once I start recording, it only shows the frontal view, even if I am positioned to the side.

Is there any way to fix this, or even just choose the specific profile view throughout without worrying about head-turning or body-tracking?

I am happy to provide any further information if needed.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've run into this myself and unfortunately, I haven't found away to get the motion library to switch. All I can suggest is to make a duplicate of the puppet where only the appropriate facing exists and use the motion library with that puppet. You'll probably need to maintain seperate scenes with the different puppets and edit the scenes together in a program like After Effects.

Okay, I'll try that out. Thank you for your response!

Is there a way to duplicate the puppet side without redoing all the rigging?

You can export the puppet - that will copy the rigging with it. However, it does not copy the original image, so be careful when deleting layers.
