Can someone tell me how to get my record screen back to normal. I clicked something by mistake and I'm not sure how to get it back to where I can see my character.

Hello,

Try Window > Workspace > Record

That is the standard setup. In the Window tab you can also select different panels to customize the workspace.

Not at computer just now, but i think the Window menu had a reset option.
