Hi,

I made a character for character animator which has a goatee and I'm trying to make it move with the face. After much work I cant seem to make it work. Can you tell me what I'm missing?

Below it is what happens when I'm trying to make it move. I have created a jaw layer because a youtuber told me to do it, I dont know what to do to make it work.

There are two ways to do the mouth - using lipsync and visemes (the Mouth layer) or using Nutcracker Jaw (a different behavior you have to add). It slides something up and down with the position of your mouth in the web cam instead of doing audio analysis. I have never tried using both at the same time.

Does the chin of your puppet move at present? If not, do you think it would look strange having the goatee to move without the chin moving? (I suspect yes, it would look strange - the goatee will move off the face.)

One approach to the problem is to include a copy of the chin and goatee artwork in the visemes, especially ones with more open mouths. But it works better if the head is independent as the head can warp a bit near the neck and the mouth viseme if mouth is independent wont warp with the face.

If it was my puppet, I would probably extend the skinny neck up behind the puppet head a bit, make the head independent, attach the head to the neck near the bottom of the head, then include the chin and goateee artwork in visemes you want the chin and goatee to move down a bit when talking.
