Question

Work Area keeps stopping playback

The work area is like the default character background -- it keeps coming into play uncommanded.

I set the work area to end of video using "set work area to end at playhead" -- but the next time I play the video, it stops 2 seconds early, at the end of some OTHER work area that I never set (or at least never purposefully set).  Is there a way to just turn the work area function off until it's actually neeeded?

I just tested this on my mac and it worked as I expected.

Just to reconfirm - you've set the work area to the start and end point you want? The work area is the little grey line that sits above the timeline.

Have you tried clicking on the work area and dragging it to the start/end points you want?

You can also place the playhead where you want the workarea to start and set that, then place it where you want the clip to end and set it to end there. So you should have complete control over the start and end point.mSounds like you have done that. As I said - I tested it and it played back as I expected, so you might benifit from a restart, or try again in a new project? Can't help you with your puppet maker background issue as I don't work with puppet maker.

Thanks. I'll try to approach it more methodically and see what's actually happening.  Right now, even if I extend the work area, it seems there are two sections recognized as work areas: there is a bright white section and a "whitish" section at the end.    The frustrating thing is, I've never knowingly set ANY work area, and yet work areas are being set somehow and they are occasionally causing playback to stop prematurely.

I'll focus on this again with your comments in mind and report back soon.

When you record a take, your work area may lengthen to allow for the additional duration of your clip. When you select the work area it should become slightly brighter and highlight its zone over your timeline. The white lines are the start and and of the work area. I created a tutorial on using the workspace a few weeks back if you want to see that;
